We are pleased to present Morning Dew ripe pu’er. This lovely little gem is a 50/50 blend of 2023 spring-picked leaves, ripened that same summer and then steamed and pressed in spring of 2024. The tea was grown in areas surrounding Bangwei and Meng Song tea villages in SW China, super clean air, and pesticide/herbicide free.

One of the first things you’ll note here is that there is little to none post-fermentation flavors/aromas here to age out. For many, post-fermentation notes are percieved as fishy or mushroomy and that is just not the case with these lovely leaves. Pressed using traditional stone technique, the cakes themselves are quite tightly compressed, so take care breaking the leaves apart when readying for your brewing session.

Though your brewing preferences may be different, we highly recommend doing nice long steeps with this tea to bring out the full flavors. When you brew it this way, you’ll be rewarded with a thick and dark brew, just a touch of dank earthiness and woody notes alongside a nice chocolate-like bitterness and creaminess. It hits just right in the body, too, energizing and relaxing at once.

Basic Brewing Instructions:

  • Ripe Pu'er may be given two 5-10 second rinses with the same temperature water as used for brewing.  

  • 212˚ F water temperature.

  • Use 1-3 teaspoons per 8 Oz. of filtered water.

  • Recommended first steeping of 30 seconds - 1 minute.  Add 30 seconds for each subsequent infusion.

  • Some drinkers prefer one very long steeping (10 to 20 minutes) and enjoy the full expression of the tea all at once.

Tea brewing is meant to be a joyful exploration. There are no hard and fast rules. Experiment with the quantity of tea that you use, and steeping times. Enjoy discovering what your preferences are. They may change day to day.
